Saw RainPoint on TV — anyone tried it? 🤔

Caught RainPoint on TV earlier — they had some kind of garden watering setup.

I’m not super familiar with this brand (never used their stuff). But kind of want to try it — maybe it’ll fix my watering issues.

Has anyone here used their products? Just curious if it’s any good…

Also, quick question — do community members get any discounts?

I’ve used their system for a number of years. I started with the older, yellow system and still use that one as I didn’t want to replace a still working system. I have 7 dual controllers and one single all running to keep everything watered for me year around. Rainpoint’s customer service is top notch and has been there for any problems I had throughout my watering journey. I can’t imagine going back to having to hand water everything myself.

I started with a single controller to water a back bed that was too far for me to roll and unroll the water hose every day. After getting it setup, I was so in love with the system, I bought more controllers to water other beds and all of my hanging baskets and potted plants around my deck full of plants as my watering chore took hours every day. I was stunned that it watered them automatically for me at 3 am without any problems whatsoever. My daily, dreaded watering chore was history without giving up my beloved plants!

Late fall came and it was time to move most of the potted plants to the greenhouse; so I setup another controller in it to continue watering them. I purchased the moisture readers for the soil and placed them in a few pots to let me know how often the plants needed watering in the greenhouse just as I had done for the first back bed and setup the controller to water every 3 days instead of daily in the greenhouse.

The difference in my plant growth was amazing. They truly appreciated being watered at 2 to 3 am at night instead of the daytime in the hot, Texas sun as evidenced by their growth. Days were never skipped due to my having to be somewhere else, rather than watering my plants. The controller just automatically waters them while I sleep. My greatly reduced water bill soon paid for my system as much less water was used due to the smaller amount of water being used by the controller than my watering with a hose.

I think this is due to the water coming out more slowly at each plant as it is shared among many at the same time. I have then set to only run two minutes which supplies enough water to come out the bottom of the pots, but the water doesn’t come out of the bottom nearly as long as it does when I water by hand. The lighter spray must allow the soil to soak up the water before it gets to the bottom. I now realize I was watering too much when doing it by hand, but it was such a large job that I wanted to get it done as quickly as possible; so that I could be done with it for the day.

I will say getting the system all setup and working everywhere was quite the job, but it was worth it to have happy, gorgeous plants with little to no work after getting it done. The biggest job I now have during the summer is trimming and splitting plants to create more to give to others as the plants outgrow and become too heavy for the cheap plastic hanging baskets.

I have never used the “don’t water if it rains” feature as we have been in a drought for years. I did test it once to see if it works and it did.

In sum, the system is basically a set it and forget it system that I dearly love.
