Sharing my super simple DIY winter greenhouse hack – it’s cheap, easy, and really works!
All you need is a large, clear water jug. Cut off the bottom, then make two cuts up the side to create a little “door” you can flip open for watering and harvesting. That’s it!
It becomes a perfect mini-greenhouse: it lets in light, protects from wind and cold, and even keeps pests and birds out. I think it’s ideal for strawberries – keeps the fruits clean and safe.
Has anyone else tried something similar? What would you use it for?
Genius hack! You’ve basically built a plant-sized fortress. I totally agree it looks perfect for strawberries. Quick question – on unexpectedly warm sunny days, do you pop the lid open to prevent it from turning into a mini-oven inside, or is the airflow enough?
Oh, this is brilliant! I’ve been using old milk jugs in a similar way for my seedling starters, but cutting a ‘door’ into a big jug like this for full plants is next-level smart. Definitely stealing this idea for my kale patches this winter. Thanks for sharing the visual too – makes it super clear!
