Water vs soil

Tried rooting jasmine cuttings in both water and soil at the same time. Now I’m seeing a clear difference.

The soil ones? Fewer sprouted, but the ones that did look stronger. Bigger buds, more solid.

The water ones? All of them sprouted. But the buds are tiny — barely visible.

Now I’m stuck. Water gives me better sprout rate, but the buds are weak. Soil gives me stronger buds, but half of them did nothing.

Anyone done this before? How do water cuttings handle the move to soil?

Just a heads up — those water cuttings might be sprouting from their own energy, not because they’ve rooted yet. If they don’t have roots, those little buds might not last. I’ve had that happen before. Buds show up early, but no roots underneath. Then they stall and die. Do yours have roots yet? If not, you might want to wait before celebrating the 100% sprout rate. Soil ones take longer to sprout because they’re busy putting out roots first. That’s probably why the buds look stronger when they finally show up.
