You wouldn’t believe this was the same lawn 6 months ago! Consistent, deep watering with my RainPoint timer made all the difference. So grateful! Has anyone else seen a dramatic change?
Okay, WOW! That transformation is absolutely incredible!
It’s like you laid down a whole new carpet of grass. I’ve had the exact same experience – since putting my sprinklers on a RainPoint schedule, my lawn has gone from patchy and sad to the envy of the neighborhood. That ‘set it and forget it’ peace of mind is a game-changer. So happy for you!
Talk about a glow-up! This gives me so much hope for my own lawn.
If you don’t mind sharing, what watering schedule did you find worked best for such amazing results? I’m still fine-tuning mine and would love to learn from your success!

@Joy your story is so inspiring, and @Pierce , that’s a fantastic question.
Let’s make this the official ‘Transformation Thread’! If anyone else has a #RainPointGlowUp story – big or small – please share it here. We love seeing how you’re all thriving!
Wow, that’s incredible! What watering schedule did you find worked best for your grass type?
Wow, thank you so much for the trust, and I’m so glad our experience gives you hope!
Regarding the watering schedule, it took me some time to experiment, but I finally found a routine that worked wonders for my lawn.
The core of my “success formula” is: Deep, Infrequent, and Consistent watering.
This might sound a bit counterintuitive, but the key is longer watering sessions with less frequent cycles. This encourages the grass roots to grow deeper in search of moisture, making them stronger and more drought-resistant.
Here is the specific schedule I use during the growing season (Spring/Fall). You can use it as a starting point and fine-tune it for your yard:
-
My Equipment: I use the RainPoint WiFi Watering Timer because it handles complex schedules effortlessly, which is a huge plus.
-
Frequency: 2-3 times per week.
-
Time of Day: Every session starts in the early morning (around 5-6 AM).
-
Duration: Each watering zone runs for 20-30 minutes.
[The Crucial Adjustment Step]
This duration works for my soil type and sprinkler output. I highly recommend doing a “Tuna Can Test” to calibrate this perfectly for your setup:
-
Place a few empty tuna cans (or any shallow cans) around your lawn.
-
Run your sprinkler system for 15 minutes.
-
Use a ruler to measure the depth of water collected in the cans.
-
The Goal: Ideally, each watering should provide about 1/2 to 3/4 inch (approx. 1.5 to 2 cm) of water. So, if you collected 1/4 inch after 15 minutes, you’d need to run for 30 minutes to reach the 1/2 inch goal.
Why I’m a huge fan of the RainPoint Timer:
-
Precise Control: I can easily set the detailed schedule mentioned above, guaranteeing absolute consistency.
-
Smart Water Savings: Its “Rain Delay” feature is a game-changer for conservation—it automatically skips watering when it rains, saving water and money.
-
Remote Peace of Mind: Even when I’m away from home, I can check, adjust, or start watering right from my phone app. It’s incredibly reassuring.
I truly hope this detailed breakdown helps you out! Your lawn might need slight adjustments based on soil, sun exposure, and grass type. Maybe start with this plan, observe how your lawn responds, and tweak it from there. Wishing you a lawn you’ll be proud of very soon! ![]()
This gives me hope for my own patchy lawn!
Watering is very important, but is it possible that it’s just the time of year for the lawn to grow?
However, after looking at your watering plan, it seems to make sense.
